No stress at Tressis

Spanish distributor Tressis is far from apprehensive about Mifid compliance thanks to client suitability tests which have long been part of its approach. Sophia Morrell talks to Sonsoles Santamaria, head of structured products at the company

The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (Mifid) became law across Europe at the beginning of November, creating a headache for distributors, who are now obliged to carry out client suitability tests whenever they sell structured products. For Madrid-based distributor Tressis, however, Mifid compliance should prove relatively painless.

"We think that the success of a product comes from the client's correct understanding of it before they buy it, and that is key for us," says Sonsoles
