US Patriot Act to expand


WASHINGTON DC -- The USA Patriot Act will soon be expanded include to investment companies.

In late December, the US Treasury department, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve jointly released a report to Congress under the USA Patriot Act containing recommendations for applying anti-money laundering controls to investment companies.

The new rules will apply to mutual funds, closed-end funds, unit investment trusts, hedge funds, commodity pools
