Post-Wheatley FCA may be friendlier to banks
After Martin Wheatley's sudden resignation from the UK's conduct regulator, the banking industry might soon be able to enjoy a friendlier relationship with the supervisor
Martin Wheatley is due to leave his position as chief executive of the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in September. While his sudden resignation, announced on July 17, raised eyebrows, it probably lowered the blood pressure of UK bankers. He was known for a hardline approach to conduct regulation, symbolised by his early pledge, which he later regretted, to "shoot first and ask questions later".
