ASX and LCH battle for Australian clearing market

Two's a crowd?


Although the clearing of over-the-counter derivatives has not been mandated by Australian regulators as of yet, the local market is clearly moving to clear OTC trades through a central clearing house, driven by pricing in dealing with a cleared versus uncleared trade.

As such, the market infrastructure for domestic firms to clear is currently under development with both LCH.Clearnet and the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) announcing plans to offer clearing services to Australia-based
