Hong Kong examines OTC derivatives central clearing

A taskforce created by the Hong Kong Treasury Markets Association (TMA) is set to examine the feasibility of establishing a derivatives clearing house in Hong Kong.

The taskforce is in the process of sending out questionnaires to both local and international banks requesting information on the local derivatives market. The TMA will then analyse the data and present its recommendations to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).
