As structured products improve their tarnished reputation in South Africa, asset manager Cadiz Wealth is seeking to tap the rising demand for actively managed fund-linked products. Matt Cameron reports

The South African structured products market has carried something of a taint since 2001, when investors were hit hard after investing offshore by betting on weakness in the rand.

The subsequent strengthening, coupled with the fact that many products lacked sufficient transparency and liquidity in rigid structures that were almost impossible to exit, resulted in distrust and apprehension about structured investments.
