Equities to drive structured product market in 2015

The structured products market has started to flourish again as regulation has stabilised, while the continued potential for rising interest rates means next year could be a good one. Richard Jory asks industry experts about their hopes and fears for 2015

Hubert Le Liepvre, Societe Generale
What is the biggest challenge facing the structured products industry in 2015?

Stefan Armbruster, managing director at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt: Interest rates close to zero are making bond structures less attractive for investors, especially in Europe, and that is impacting on all capital-guaranteed products. As a result, the key driver will be equities.

We don't expect a lot of new regulation - that will come in 2016 with the introduction of the revised Markets in Financial Instruments
