Despite concerns over sovereign risk, decent corporate Q1 results and continued inflows from retail investors helped credit performance in March.

The conviction trade gathered momentum in credit last month, despite ongoing fears that negative sentiment resulting from sovereign fiscal difficulties could spill over into the wider market. While European sovereign indebtedness continues to be a dominant theme, the debate over the shape of economic recovery has also dictated the direction for spreads.
