Going it alone

Jyske Bank, based in Denmark, has traditionally distributed products that have been created by large banks. However, after the financial crisis saw consumer confidence in those banks plunge, Jyske has had to step in to operate as both issuer and distributor. Clare Dickinson reports

“Now we use only ourselves as issuer. We put together the products and we distribute them,” explains Tilde Vinge Hem, financial engineer at Jyske Bank in Copenhagen. “Previously, we used both ourselves and big banks such as UBS and JP Morgan but there have been so many issues centred around issuer credit risk that now we issue all the products ourselves.
