Hedge funds have become a significant presence in the energy markets this decade. Experts estimate there are now more than 600 hedge funds trading the energy markets, up 100% from three years ago. Opinion is divided over whether, and to what extent, hedge funds and other speculators distort prices, but most experts agree that hedge funds are very good at finding investment opportunities.
