Traders shun CME’s futures launch

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s exchange-traded credit derivatives contract was launched on June 17, but the exchange has told Credit that there has been no trading as yet.

“It takes time to build volume in a contract,” says a spokesperson for the exchange. “We believe it complements existing over the counter credit products and will bring new participants, such as asset managers, into the credit derivatives marketplace.”

The contract pays out following credit events affecting the CME North
