BarCap and ABN reports question merits of structured investments

Two studies, one by Barclays Capital and another by ABN Amro with the London Business School, last month questioned the merits of structured products.

The studies fly in the face of what the two banks are doing with their respective structured products businesses. Both have upped investment in their franchises in recent years, and have brought to market innovative solutions for the retail and high-net-worth markets. The studies were commissioned by departments at the banks which do not deal
