There are a number of accepted methodologies for the distribution of structured products in the US market. The orthodox approach is for a large investment bank to sell internally - using its large, captive distribution network - and externally to regional broker-dealers. The other recognised approach is for an investment bank with a relatively small internal distribution capability to sell on to "broker broker-dealers", which are structured product intermediaries who sell on to the regional
