US investors have never embraced structured products with the same zeal as their European counterparts, and the turmoil created by the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, as well as weak equity markets, has dampened appetites still further. What remains is a marketplace scattered with a handful of reverse convertibles and accelerated growth products, and dominated by certificates of deposit (CDs), which are covered under the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's (FDIC's) protection scheme.
