BoE highlights risk of LBOs

The mushrooming leveraged buyout (LBO) market has been thrown into the spotlight after the Bank of England (BoE) warned that increasing levels of debt on corporate balance sheets is putting the financial system at risk.

The cental bank's twice-yearly Financial Stability Report, published in July, singles out a widening and deepening of corporate releveraging, driven by companies' fear of being LBO targets and the accessibility of cheap loan financing.
