Credit derivatives vols surge again

The credit derivatives market has continued to expand at breakneck pace, with three separate surveys reporting double-digit growth rates in the asset class. And the expansion is set to continue, with one survey from the British Bankers' Association (BBA) predicting the market will reach $33 trillion by the end of 2008, a 65% increase from its year-end 2006 forecast.

The surveys - from the BBA, Fitch Ratings and the International Swaps and Derivatives Association - paint a similar picture, but
