Barclays launches volatility ETNS after 2008 spikes

The ETNs will follow the performance of both indexes in the suite: the Short-Term (which has a ticker of VXX) and Mid-Term Futures (ticker VXZ). The Short Term Index maintains a daily rolling position in the first and second month futures contracts, whereas the Mid-Term has a long rolling position in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh month futures contracts.
