The structured products market in South Korea has been predominantly driven by investor demand over the past two years, as the country’s insurance companies and pension firms have looked to boost yields to meet policy redemption, annuity and pension liabilities. But some corporate treasurers are now taking a leaf out of their book, becoming more active in structured derivatives transactions to monetise their views on the market, and in doing so, reduce their cost of funding.
