Proprietary trading by banks has been in the spotlight as the inquest into the credit crunch continues with the Dodd-Frank Act in the United States threatening to curb what has been a major money-spinner for the industry. And it is not just regulators who are worried – bank clients have expressed concern at the potential conflict of interest posed by offering advice and trading on their own account also.
