Hedge funds expect abundant growth opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa

Sub-Saharan Africa is expected to produce a wealth of investment opportunities in the years ahead. Hedge fund managers are split on how to capture the growth as shorting is impossible in most markets.


As broad emerging markets hedge fund strategies struggle to match past returns, investment managers looking for the next big growth story might want to turn their attention to sub-Saharan Africa.

The region, with its long history of poverty and conflict, is emerging from its multi-decade slump and is now growing more quickly than developed markets.
