Short strategies dominate index

According to Credit Suisse First Boston/Tremont fund index the most successful hedge fund strategies over April were dominated by those using short strategies. The top performer over the month was the 2% returns achieved by those utilising a dedicated short bias, however, in the year to date, emerging market funds have outperformed, up 10%.

Convertible arbitrage made a small recovery over April, having fallen 0.02% in March, up 1.21% in April. Of the nine specialist sectors the index examines
