Hungarian utility selects KWI for trading and risk management

MVM, one of Hungary's largest electricity wholesalers, has signed up to use KW3000, the energy trading and risk management system developed by London-based energy risk management software company KWI.

State-owned MVM is preparing for the opening of the Hungarian electricity market, currently set for January 1 2003. MVN said it chose KW3000 to ensure it was in a position to begin trading its assets by this date.

The company also chose the system as KWI is working in partnership with professional services firm, Accenture, to promote its software in Central and Eastern Europe.

"Having Accenture involved in the project will facilitate rapid deployment and provide us with local support for our new trading operation," said MVM project manager, Gyozo Lovas. "KWI's and Accenture's experiences in helping clients in deregulating markets will be invaluable as we begin this first stage of our journey towards compliance.”
