Thorsten V. Koeppl - Queen's University

Thorsten V. Koeppl is Associate Professor and RBC Fellow in the Department of Economics at Queen's University. He has degrees in management and in economics from the Universities of Eichstaett/Ingolstadt and Basle, and received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Minnesota in 2002.

His main research interests fall in the areas of macroeconomic theory, monetary economics as well as financial economics and risk management. In these areas, he has published in leading journals such as Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Financial Economics and European Economic Review among others.

Professor Koeppl has also served as an advisor on financial market infrastructure for the Bank of Canada and the European Central Bank, and has informed high level policy groups such as the Committee of Payments and Settlement Systems (CPSS) on theoretical and empirical research in that field. As a recognition of his important contributions, he received the Governor's Award of the Bank of Canada in 2011.
