Morgan Stanley marks biggest risk category swing in 2025 G-Sib test

Substitutability overtakes complexity at US bank for first time

Morgan Stanley had the largest shake-up of systemic risk among 29 global systemically important banks (G-Sibs) in the latest assessment by the Financial Stability Board.

The US lender’s substitutability category accounted for 28.5% of its systemic risk score at end-2024, up from 23.7% a year earlier. The complexity category, by contrast, fell from 32.9% to 25.8%, meaning it was overtaken as Morgan
