Better ALM practice behind Nordic insurer's reduced exposure to interest rate mismatches

Nordic insurers' interest rate mismatch is still significant but is improving due to better asset liability management (ALM) and a switch to offering products with no guarantees, according to rating agency Fitch.

A report published today by Fitch Ratings, entitled Nordic Insurance Outlook, outlines the expectation for growth among insurers in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark for 2010–2011, and warns that profitability could be stumped by the mismatch between previously high-rated guarantees
