JP Morgan turns to start-up to manage CME margin

Bank also weighing whether to bring its business at two other clearing houses on to Baton platform

JP Morgan, a clearer of colossal amounts of derivatives, has turned most of its CME margin processing over to Baton Systems, a three-year-old fintech that provides the bank with a comprehensive, overarching view of all its collateral obligations at the clearing house in something close to real time.

That view gives “absolute certainty at any point in time where your assets are; there is no delay in reconciliation, no uncertainty in what’s where, allowing you to optimise where your assets are
