BIS Study Sees Future Bank Failures, But Not Contagion

METHODS & REGULATIONS

BASEL, SWITZERLAND--Risk managers and central bankers who are attempting to assess counterparty risk levels going forward got good and bad news from a recent Bank for International Settlements (BIS) report. The bad news is that the number of financial institutions going under will continue into the foreseeable future. The good news, relatively speaking, is that the resulting financial losses in aggregate will not mount to levels that that would undermine the global financial system.
