Letter to the editor: hedge fund transparency – a market solution


Hedge fund management demands speed and flexibility. Accordingly, reporting to hedge fund investors generally occurs after the fact. This delay creates both agency and market risk for investors. For example, investors are unprotected against trading decisions that are incompatible with their overall portfolio strategies or that they perceive as just plain wrong. These market and agency risks exclude many potential investors from the hedge fund market.

Regulation is not necessarily the solution
