Quants on Wall Street have "a morale problem", claims one of their number

Research-minded quants can no longer expect a stimulating career on Wall Street.

New financial reforms have forced quants off the trading desks and into areas like risk management and capital optimisation, where bright minds have fewer opportunities to innovate and excel, according to Terry Benzschawel, a managing director responsible for bond portfolio analysis at Citi.
