Industry warns against EU commodity regulation

The European Commission has been cautioned against inappropriate regulation of commodity derivatives by a working group of industry bodies. The group, which includes the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, the Futures and Options Association and the European Federation of Energy Traders, warned that widescale regulation of commodity trading firms and the setting of minimum capital requirements could push some companies to relocate outside of Europe.
