Wachovia bolsters credit derivatives team

In the latest of a raft of recent hires, Wachovia Securities has hired Christopher Shin and Kathleen O’Halloran Harris to its structured credit products group.

Shin joins as head of structured credit trading, while Harris is a director in structured credit product marketing and structuring. Both report to Yu-Ming Wang, New York-based global head of structured credit products at Wachovia Securities.

Wachovia began its credit derivatives business three years ago, and has since transacted collateralised debt obligations (CDOs) referenced on a variety of underlyings, including real estate securities, middle-market loans, leveraged loans, in addition to investment-grade corporate credits and asset-backed securities (ABSs).

The US bank has made a handful of credit derivatives hires in recent months, most notably Anthony Sciacca, director as head of structured credit products marketing and origination, and Steve Altemeier as head of structured credit products corporate deal management.
