Energy traders breathe sigh of relief over Mifid II position limits

Mifid II exemptions for physically settled power, gas, coal and oil greeted by European energy traders

European energy traders are breathing a sigh of relief over the recently agreed draft text of a second Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (Mifid II) – in particular, its proposals for position limits on commodity derivatives.

On January 14, the European Parliament, European Commission (EC) and Council of the European Union (EU) finished a crucial round of negotiations on Mifid II
