PCAOB to create co-operative oversight programmes

WASHINGTON, DC – The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) is in discussions with at least six countries to establish co-operative oversight programmes concerning inspection of non-US firms that audit companies active in US markets.

According to an official from the PCAOB, the administrator of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Board is currently discussing establishing oversight agreements with the UK Professional Oversight Board for Accountancy, the French High Council for Statutory Auditors, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Canadian Public Accountability Board, the German Auditor Oversight Commission, and
