Will SEC reporting proposal supercharge alt data providers?

Move that would allow companies to opt out of quarterly reporting disclosures welcomed

A proposal to let US public companies report earnings twice a year rather than four times could hand a commercial windfall to alternative data providers, as the publicly available information on companies that opt out would be halved. 

The US Securities and Exchange Commission, which presented the proposal in early May, says the move would lower compliance costs and draw more firms to the public
