New global bodies with enforcement powers needed, says Iosco's Wright

Changes to the worldwide regulatory framework may create the need for new global bodies to ensure compliance – and some observers believe Iosco would be perfect for the job. Secretary-general David Wright talks to Luke Clancy

Despite his 33 years and three months at the European Commission (EC) as a career civil servant, David Wright could be summed up as having somewhat of a military bearing. It is apposite then that his title as secretary-general of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (Iosco), the global pan-regulatory body, should convey a dual role – that of an administrator-cum-warrior.
