Following a crazy week in the financial markets, the western regulatory landscape is evolving as events develop

What a week! First Lehman Brothers is allowed to fail and files for Chapter 11, Merrill Lynch is saved by Bank of America, LloydsTSB takes over HBOS and then AIG gets thrown a lifeline by the Federal Reserve. The fact that the Fed can take over an insurance company, when it has no legal jurisdiction over them as they are state regulated, demonstrates how the legal regulatory landscape is changing
