Ferc is preparing to analyse the results of its survey on energy price reporting.But the American Public Gas Association is concerned that a voluntary reportingscheme cannot guarantee reliable indexes. By Paul Lyon

Last month, four officers of a Reliant Resources subsidiary pleaded not guiltyto charges that they deliberately created an energy shortage in California todrive up electricity prices. More than two years after the California energycrisis, they collectively became the first people to be indicted of misreportingenergy prices. Among other things, the four executives were charged with theattempted manipulation of the price of a commodity in interstate commerce.
