Duke to settle California power crisis allegations

North Carolina-based Duke was accused of overcharging customers millions of dollars during the crisis, which saw many companies default on payments, and power shortages the length of California.

Ferc said the settlement “will benefit customers by resolving claims against Duke for refunds, price adjustments or other remedies for actions arising out of Duke’s sale of electricity and natural gas into California” between January 2000 and June 23, 2001.
