Merrill creates debt-equity strategic solutions group

Merrill Lynch has created a new debt-equity strategic solutions group by bringing together its equity structured derivatives and debt strategic solutions marketing efforts in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The new group will be headed by Stefan Guetter, currently managing director and product head for the debt strategic solutions group, and Joachim Willnow, managing director and head of equity structured derivatives marketing.

In an internal announcement to staff, which RiskNews has seen a copy of, Merrill Lynch managing directors David Jervis, head of the EMEA equity investor group, and Dimitrios Psyllidis, head of the EMEA debt client group, said the creation of the restructuring was done to ensure that the bank interfaces with its clients as “one firm across all products”.

“As our clients become more sophisticated across asset classes, we must adapt to continue to be the counterparty of choice for optimal client service,” said the announcement.

Guetter will be responsible for all debt and equity solutions business with institutional clients, while Willnow will be responsible for wholesale, ultra-high-net-worth and retail accounts.
