Bankgesellschaft Berlin picks Trema

Bankgesellschaft Berlin (BGB) has selected the French-based financial software services provider, Trema, to help streamline the German bank’s operations.

BGB will begin using Trema’s Finance Kit as part of a strategic decision to reduce costs through streamlining operations. BGB hopes Finance Kit will improve efficiency in the management of its back-office function.

Trema Finance Kit, running on Sun Solaris with a Sybase database, will cover a range of asset classes at BGB, including deposits, loans and foreign exchange. The bank will also use Trema Finance Kit's call money functionality, to facilitate the day-to-day management of call money transactions.

The Trema system will interface with more than 20 internal systems, across the front, middle and back office at BGB, enabling straight-through processing throughout the financial institution. With these efficiency improvements, the bank hopes to benefit from considerable savings in transaction costs. BGB will also gain major savings in maintenance costs by replacing its German market-specific system.

As well as covering its back-office requirements, BGB uses Trema Finance Kit as a permanent settlement system. The bank imports all reconciliation items from other payment systems, and performs first-settlement management reconciliation with Trema Finance Kit.
