Global ETF volumes set to soar

Global assets under management (AUM) in exchange-traded products (ETPs) will hit $2 trillion by the start of 2012 and growth will continue at an annual rate of 20-30% over the next three years, predicts Blackrock.

The asset manager's year-end report showed that at the end of 2010 the global ETP industry was worth almost $1.5 trillion and 3,503 products were listed worldwide. This is an increase from the 2,672 listings and $1.16 trillion recorded at the end of 2009. There was also a rise in the
