Barclays goes for growth and income with FTSE bond

UK banking group Barclays has launched a new growth-and-income product. The five-year FTSE Income and Growth Bond has been designed to provide investors with a steady income stream combined with the potential for capital growth from equities.

Investors' capital is split into two portions, with half linked to the income element of the bond and the other half to the growth element. For the income part of the investment, the bond pays an annual income equal to the prevailing Bank of England base
