Private equity consortium buys SunGard for $11.3bn

A consortium of private equity investment firms has bought Pennsylvania-based software and services giant SunGard, whose products include the Adaptiv range of derivatives trading, risk management and back-office products, for $11.3 billion. The deal is expected to free the company to pursue its acquisition strategy even more aggressively than it has done in the past, extending its already broad portfolio of financial software and services.
