Lehman sparks trend towards European ABS funds

Asset managers are considering launching dedicated European asset-backed securities (ABS) funds, following the unveiling of Lehman Brothers’ European ABS Index, according to Amany Attia, head of European structured finance at Lehman in London. “We are trying to give investors a frame of reference that is transparent and reflective of the European ABS market,” she says. Lehman’s new launch is the first pure European ABS index available.
