Barclays faces Banca Popolare di Intra credit derivatives lawsuit

Banca Popolare di Intra (BPI), an Italian regional bank, has filed a lawsuit against Barclays Bank in London. The suit seeks damages on a EUR36 million credit derivatives investment Barclays sold to BPI in 2000. Originally filed at the High Court in London in February, the suit was refiled on July 17. This suit is the second the Verbania, Italy-based bank has brought against an investment bank in relation to its credit derivatives investments.
