Credit Suisse made a commitment to hedge funds derivatives that meant it was one of the few that was prepared to offer financing over the past 12 months, while maintaining a worldwide staff of 100 and pulling off an audacious restructuring of a series of extraordinarily complex off-balance sheet principal-protected notes linked to a portfolio of hedge funds issued by a dedicated special purpose vehicle (SPV).
