Barclays Capital is a relatively new player in commodity derivatives, a field historically dominated by a few large US banks. But in the past few years it has emerged as a strong competitor to the likes of Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley through a combination of technical skill and product innovation.
The team, led by Benoit de Vitry, head of commodities, is mainly made up of individuals who have joined the group since 2000, when the bank began building up its commodity derivatives business
