Hedge Funds review talks to Paul Findley and Richard Shuster about opportunities in the small cap sector

The small cap sector is proving to be a haven of opportunity both in the US and the UK.

Weiss, Peck and Greer's Opportunistic Value Fund, with $US130m under management in both a US and a Bermuda-based fund, has got mileage from timely decisions over the past two years. In London, Threadneedle Asset Management's Paul Findley, who runs the group's Crescendo UK Equity Fund, reports that in the fourth quarter of 2001 the UK small-cap sector jumped by 19.5%, compared to the FTSE 100 which rose by 6.8%
