Basel II obligations force Central Bank of India to expand

The bank said it plans to target both the retail and commercial sector in its bid to raise capital. An initial public offering of shares is also planned for tomorrow.

Basel II requires Indian banks to have a 12% capital adequacy ratio, but the Central Bank of India is now 1.6 percentage points short of this ratio.
