EBA supports global op risk taxonomy, but it won’t happen soon

New EU framework designed to ease adoption by banks; other jurisdictions have different priorities

European Union regulators are ready to work with international peers to establish a global taxonomy for classifying operational risks as part of the risk-based capital regime for banks, but few expect it to materialise any time soon.

“From the perspective of big banking groups, who need to adjust their regulatory reporting to different jurisdictions, the use of a global taxonomy would be welcome,”
